Victim identified in fatal stabbing near downtown Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Las Vegas Metro police are investigating a deadly stabbing that occurred Wednesday night near downtown Las Vegas.

According to the department’s Lt. David Gordon, the attack happened about 8:23 p.m. in the 200 block of Santa Rita Drive, which is located near Las Vegas Boulevard and St. Louis Avenue.

Gordon said a male victim was taken to University Medical Center Trauma, where he was pronounced dead.

The victim suffered multiple stab wounds according to the Clark County Coroner's Office, and has been identified as 41-year-old Vensant Diaz. 

This was one of two homicides that Metro investigated Wednesday night. Police were looking into a deadly shooting near Lake Mead Boulevard and Pecos Road.
