LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Las Vegas Metro police said recording artist Chris Brown is under investigation for battery and theft after an incident at the Palms hotel Saturday morning.

Officers responded to the Palms casino resort at 10:20 a.m. with a report of a battery that occurred inside a hotel suite.

According to police, they made contact with an adult female who appeared to have minor injuries and alleged she was hurt from an earlier altercation involving Brown.

The police investigation indicated the victim was attending a party inside a hotel room and the altercation took place over a cell phone when she went to take a picture of the recording artist, who then took the phone, before she was escorted out of the room by private security and off property by hotel security due to the disturbance.

The female victim returned a short time later to report this incident to hotel security, according to authorities, and detectives tried to contact the singer but were informed he had already left the location before they arrived.

Police said a crime report was taken for misdemeanor theft and battery listing Brown as a suspect.

Authorities have not yet heard from Brown and this incident remains under investigation.

Anyone with information regarding this incident are urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
