'Rock of Ages' finds new home at the Rio

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Award-winning musical Rock of Ages will move from The Venetian to the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in January 2016.

It was announced Thursday that Rock of Ages had found a new home for future performances inside the Rio's Crown Theater that will be renamed the Rock of Ages Theater. Nightly performances there will begin on Jan. 25.

“We are excited to welcome Rock of Ages to the Rio early next year,” said Dan Walsh, general manager of Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. “The Rio has a long history of hosting some of the most exciting entertainers in Las Vegas and we look forward to offering another top notch iconic show to our guests."

Rock of Ages has been one of the most popular shows on The Strip for the past three years at The Venetian. It was announced in October that Rock of Ages would conclude its run there on Jan. 3. 

“We’re thrilled for this new chapter and look forward to rocking even more guests by joining the Caesars Entertainment family at the Rio,” said Scott Armstrong, VP and managing producer of BASE Entertainment which, along with S2BN Entertainment, producers of ROCK OF AGES in Las Vegas.
