Las Vegas Metro police, during a press conference on Friday afternoon, discussed the arrest of a school bus driver who is accused of sexually assaulting children.

Police said 55-year-old Michael Banco is facing 19 felony counts, including sexual assault of a child under 14, lewdness, child abuse and sexually motivated kidnapping. Officers said they have identified two victims and are interviewing a potential third victim. Banco was booked into the Clark County Detention Center.

Police said the assault occurred on a bus, which is equipped with a surveillance camera.

Banco has been employed with the district since 1995.

Banco's bus typically transports about 20 elementary and preschool children to and from school. Police said they are looking into how far the abuse goes back.

“The current investigation is just focusing within the last few days. However, as we reach out to potential victims and as we dig further, it could go back over a period of time,” Metro Deputy Chief Tom Roberts said.

Police said parents of potential victims have been contacted.

“If you believe your child had any inappropriate contact with this bus driver, this person, please call us. Do not try to interview or interrogate your child,” Metro's Lt. Dan McGrath said.

FOX5 spoke with a family member of one of the victims identified by Metro. That family member, whose identity is being protected, said the child began acting strangely on Wednesday. She later said she'd been sexually assaulted by her bus driver.

“[I asked] Sweetie, where did this happen at? She said on the bus, so at that time I called Metro,” the family member said. “She's 3, but she's a hero because she came home and she told it. That, to me, saved other people from this monster going after their children.”

Metro detectives asked that anyone who suspects his or her child was a victim of Banco to call the department's Sexual Assault Section at 702-828-3307 or 702-828-3559. Police said the phone lines will be open until 11 p.m. on Friday and from 7 a.m. until 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
