LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A fourth child in Clark County has died as a result of the flu, according to officials.

According to the Clark County Coroner's Office, 5-year-old Kiera Driscoll died from cardiac arrest due to influenza A.

Kiera's father, Patrick, said his daughter developed a cough and fever Sunday. On Monday, she was taken to a clinic, and prescribed steroids and a nebulizer. She collapsed later that day, and his wife performed CPR on Kiera until paramedics arrived. Kiera later died.

Patrick Driscoll said that Kiera had been vaccinated against the flu. He said doctors confirmed that Kiera had contracted the same strain for which she had been vaccinated.

“Kiera would want us to celebrate life, to taken an extra second to tell people around you that you love them,” said Kiera's aunt, Laurel Beckstead.

Beckstead is also the principal of Kiera's school, American Heritage Academy. She had no idea last Friday would be the last time she'd see her niece.

“She was healthy Friday. Sunday in the evening, her mother noticed that she was getting ill,” Beckstead said.

Beckstead said Kiera was full of life, loved movies such as Frozen and anything colored purple.

“She was the first one to come up and give somebody a hug. She liked everyone,” she said.

Beckstead said the family's faith will get them through the ordeal.

“Even though Kiera has been taken from us unexpectedly, we believe that her time here, her mission was fulfilled and that she is in a better place,” she said.

According to Southern Nevada Health District spokeswoman Jennifer Sizemore, there have been six flu-related deaths in Clark County this season. She said four of the six were children.

The family has set up an account on Fundly.com to help pay for funeral expenses.
