COPY-Chicago flights in Las Vegas being delayed, canceled

Posted: Updated:
A fire at Federal Aviation Administration control center near Chicago on Friday morning affected flights to and from the Windy City at Las Vegas' McCarran International Airport.

The fire prompted officials to close flights in and out of Chicago's O'Hare International and Midway airports, according to CNN.

McCarran Spokeswoman Christine Crews said arriving and departing flights for Chicago will be affected for most of the day. She said many airlines, including American, Southwest and Spirit, have canceled flights. She said United is delaying many of its flights.

Crews said lines at the ticketing counters are long.

Travelers were urged to check with their airlines about the status of their flight. The status of flights can also be found on McCarran's website at
