NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV (FOX5) -

The North Las Vegas Police Department on Thursday evening announced officers have made an arrest in connection with a slaying on Saturday night.

The department said 44-year-old Christine Sanchez was taken into custody at an undisclosed time and booked into Las Vegas City Jail.

About 11 p.m. on Saturday, police were called to an apartment in the 1200 block of West Alexander Road where they located the body of 52-year-old Bonnie Rice.

Police said an investigation revealed Rice had been shot multiple times.

Police believe Rice and Sanchez knew one another and said that detectives located Sanchez in Rice's vehicle on West Tropicana Avenue. Police believe Sanchez took Rice's vehicle following the slaying.

Sanchez is facing charges of murder with a deadly weapon and robbery with a deadly weapon.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and urged anyone with additional information to call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
