LAKE HAVASU CITY, AZ (CBS5) -

Two people were hospitalized after a 38-foot boat flipped and ejected five people on Lake Havasu on Sunday afternoon.

Cale Holt, 29, of Bullhead City was driving the boat about 1:38 p.m. and was entering the mouth of Colorado River at the Arizona-California border when it struck mud and flipped, landing in water about 6 to 7 feet deep, according to a Mohave County Sheriff's Office report.

Holt and a woman on board the twin-engine craft were taken to Havasu Regional Medical Center. Holt suffered a head injury and the woman had a bruise on her head, according to the report.

Deputies said Holt was going north into the river when it came too close to short on the Arizona shore, according to the report.

The boat's owner was also on board and alerted Holt, who tried to turn back into the main channel when it caught in the mud, according to the report.

There was no word on the patients' conditions or whether any citations were issued.

No other information was available.
