PHOENIX (CBS5) -

The Belknap forest fire continues to grow in northern Arizona and has prompted detours of a popular hiking trail in the area.

USDA Forest Service Fire Information Officer Holly Krake reports the size of the Belknap fire burning south of the Grand Canyon near Tusayan has grown to 307 acres.

Krake said the lightning-caused fire was first reported on Aug. 27.

Due to firefighting efforts, sections of the Arizona Trail within the fire area have been temporarily detoured to follow Forest Service Road 310, Krake said. Large signage and detour maps have been posted in the vicinity.

Currently, smoke is highly visible from sections of Highway 64 in the Desert View area of the Grand Canyon National Park and near Cameron, AZ.
