TEMPE, AZ (CBS5) -

Ten people were treated and three were taken to the hospital after they were overcome by heat while waiting in line to attend a Tempe concert, police said.

Tempe Police Lt. Mike Pooley said about 1,300 girls between 12 to 15 years old were waiting to get into the Digi concert at the Marquee Theater.

They started to feel dehydrated and called for help.

"There were girls throwing up and passing out and they looked like they were going to die," said parent and onlooker Misty Wagner.

Wagner said many of the girls had been in line since 7 a.m. since there was open seating once doors opened at 3 p.m.

"They should have set up water stations out here," Wagner said.

When the doors did open, the crowd rushed in causing a few other injuries, Pooley said. Those girls were treated at the scene.

The high in Phoenix on Sunday hit 109 degrees, following Saturday's high of 111.

The DigiTour began as a showcase for social media stars from YouTube. It has expanded to also include performers on Instagram, Twitter and Vine as well as traditional pop music stars.
