NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV (FOX5) -

The cause of death remained pending Thursday for a 20-month-old boy who was pulled from a backyard pool in North Las Vegas earlier in the week.

The Clark County Coroner's Office identified the toddler as Robert L. Peterson.

North Las Vegas police said the boy died at a hospital on Wednesday.

According to police, the boy was pulled from a pool at a residence in the 7000 block of Seabirds Place, near Elkhorn Road and Aliante Parkway, on Monday.

Sgt. Chrissie Coon of NLV police said the boy's family was home at the time when the child somehow got into the backyard. A family member found the boy unconscious in the pool.

Police said it was too early to speculate whether charges will be filed.
