LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

After an impressive and unprecedented run in the Little League World Series, Las Vegas' Mountain Ridge team returned home Monday night to cheers.

The little leaguers' plane was welcomed to McCarran International Airport with a water cannon salute from Clark County Fire Station 13.

As the boys deplaned at McCarran International Airport, they were greeted by police officers, airport staff and Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman, who waved signs and applauded.

The team was then greeted by cheers from the public in the baggage claim area of the airport's Terminal 1.

Mountain Ridge Little League qualified for the international youth baseball tournament, becoming the first team from Nevada to enter the World Series.

The team posted dominant victories in its first three games, two of them ending by mercy rule. The team fell, though, in its last two games, earning second place on the U.S. side of the bracket and fourth place in the world.

The city of Las Vegas already planned a ceremony to honor the team at City Hall on Saturday at 9 a.m. The team will then take part in a parade down Las Vegas Boulevard before being honored at an event at Town Square at 10 a.m.
