Outlet mall breaking ground in Marana

Posted: Updated:
MARANA, AZ (Tucson News Now) - A new outlet mall location in Marana is breaking ground today.

It is a construction project that is expected to take more than a year to complete. Construction crews are expected to grade the area of the outlet mall near Twin Peaks Road and Interstate 10.

The Tucson Premium outlets at Marana are expected to have more than 90 shops.  Simon is the developer of the outlet mall, which will take up to 46 acres of the total 170 acre project.  It will be similar to the outlets at Wild Horse Pass in Chandler.

Vintage Partners is the developer of the whole project, called the Marana Center.  The Center is expected to have hotels, a movie theater, as well as an auto dealership and restaurants.

Construction on the mall is expected to last between 12 and 14 months.  The goal is to have the outlets ready for the 2015 holiday shopping season.
