LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A plot to smuggle a cell phone to accused Strip shooter Ammar Harris was said to involve bribery and a box of chicken, and now seven people are charged in the case.

Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto on Thursday announced the charges in connection with the incident, which occurred in May at the High Desert State Prison, located near Indian Springs.

According to Cortez Masto, in May of this year, Harris got about $2,000 to a woman named Amy Colon. Colon, in turn, gave money to a woman named Charmain Simmons, who is the mother of another inmate, Derrick McKnight.

Simmons, Cortez Masto said, paid another woman, Reann Gadson, to purchase two cell phones, which were given to a woman named Olga Gonzalez.

It's alleged that Gadson and Gonzalez then met with correctional officer Derland Blake, who was bribed to smuggle the phones to into the prison and on to Harris and McKnight.

FOX5 on Aug. 7 spoke with a woman named Mayline Sutera who had recently spent time behind bars at Clark County Detention Center with Gonzalez. She claimed Gonzalez recounted the entire ordeal, confessing that the phones had been smuggled into the prison in a box containing a chicken meal.

"Olga said, ‘Yeah, the phones went to Ammar Harris.' I knew who she was talking about. She was crying. [She] didn't know how she got herself in that situation," Sutera said.

The phones were located by prison guards on or about May 13, and Harris was subsequently transferred to a maximum security facility in Ely.

The following is a list of those charged:
