PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Three people, including the parents of two young children, are in custody after they led officers on a high-speed chase on a Valley freeway before crashing with the children in the car, an Arizona Department of Public Safety officer said.

The trio were in a car that was clocked at more than 100 mph when it passed a DPS patrolman monitoring traffic on southbound State Route 51 about midnight Thursday, Sgt. Alan Haywood said.

The trooper chased the car but the driver took the Bethany Home off-ramp, slid through the intersection, crashed through ADOT signage, and came to a rest on top of the concrete median, Raul Garcia of DPS said.

Two men jumped and ran from the car, but DPS officers caught the driver and an off-duty Phoenix police officer caught the passenger, who is the driver's brother, Haywood said.

Officers found a woman and two children, ages 4 months and 2 years, inside the car, Haywood said.

Garcia said the 4-month-old boy had bruising on his face from hitting one of the front seats during the crash. His 2-year-old brother was not hurt and both children were turned over to the Department of Child Safety.

The driver, also the children's father, and the other passengers were being investigated for being under the influence of alcohol and drugs, Haywood said.

According to the three suspects, they had just conducted a drug deal before getting on SR 51, DPS said.

Officers located prepackaged marijuana for sale and a pistol in the car.

The driver, Jorge Manuel Monge, 22, his brother, Jacob Allen Monge, 18, and the driver's fiance and the mother of the children, Socity Gutierrez, 18, all of Phoenix, were arrested and booked into the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office Jail.
