LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A 25-year-old Las Vegas man was identified as the motorcyclist killed in a crash on Monday.

The Clark County Coroner's Office did not immediately release Tuesday a cause and manner of death for John Thomas Strunk.

Las Vegas Metro police reported the crash at 2:39 p.m. Monday in the area of Lamb Boulevard and East Russell Road.

Police said evidence and witness statements indicated a 2014 Yamaha motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Russell, approaching the intersection of Lamb Boulevard. At the same time, a Chevrolet Equinox was turning left from westbound Russell to southbound Lamb when it was struck from behind by the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist was killed at the scene, while the driver of the Chevrolet, a 73-year-old man, was taken to Sunrise Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

This marked the 50th traffic-related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction in 2014.

The accident remains under investigation.
