LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

They did it - the Mountain Ridge All-Star team made history Saturday night after an 11-2 victory over Northern California representative Pacifica American in the championship of the West Regional in San Bernardino.

The win sends the group of 11 to 13-year-olds to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA.

They are the first team from Nevada to ever reach the LLWS.

The boys came out swinging in the first inning. A three-run home run by Austin Kryszczuk put Mountain Ridge ahead 9-0, and the team never looked back.

"It was epic," said manager Ashton Cave in a phone interview with FOX5 after the win. "In pregame warmups, I was nervous on how our team looked, but when it was time for the first pitch, it was a breathtaking moment. This team has the potential to generate a lot of runs at any given time."

The team will board a plane and head to Williamsport at 2:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Their first game at the World Series will be against Midwest champions Rapid City, SD, on Thursday.

The team is asking for sponsors from around the Valley to assist parents traveling to Williamsport and expenses for the team while on the road.

If you'd like to assist, you're asked to email boardofdirectors@mrll.org.
