PUT-IN-BAY (Toledo News Now) -

Put-in-Bay Police say they've received confirmation that the teen reported missing yesterday has been found at a relative's house on the mainland and is fine.

A search effort began Thursday after the teen's family reported him missing. The police department posted an alert and the teen's picture to Facebook, and then a search command center was set up at the Put-in-Bay volunteer fire department.

Police say hundreds of people searched the island from top to bottom.

Sgt. Zachary Lamour says Carter's sister was the last family member to talk to him on his phone early Thursday morning. According to Lamour, Carter's sister offered to buy him a pizza but he refused, and insisted on going with his friends.

One of his friends was questioned by police.

"We had a match with someone that was with him through his phone," Sgt. Lamour said. "The person claimed they were with him for about 10 minutes, then left."

"This is the first time this has happened," Lamour said. "It's not normal for him to do something like this."
