TUCSON, AZ (TNN) – The spray from fire trucks on the tarmac of Tucson International Airport greeted the plane that carried the Nogales Intermediate All-Stars back to Arizona from California after their Little League World Series victory over Puerto Rico.

"I think that we are the team to beat now and we are the best team out there," said 13 year-old German Fajardo, who pitched a complete game Monday night.

"The way that he was pitching and dominating, the defense that he had behind him, he said that if he kept throwing strikes, he would be alright," said his father German Fajardo, who is also a coach with the team.

Friends and family greeted the team at the gate as they walked off the plane.

"This is not only good for Nogales, mind you, this is an Arizona team. This is a team from the state of Arizona, and we took the championship," said Nogales Mayor Arturo Garino.

The journey back to Nogales ended with a parade down Grand Avenue, which had cars full of supporters following the team. The festivities concluded with a ceremony at Fletcher’s Field.

"It was very good because they've never done it before," said 10 year-old Fabian Mercado who watched the parade from the side of Grand Avenue.

"As a community, it's nice to support each other and see everybody out and seeing great things that our little ones can do," said his mother, Jacklyn Rojas.
