CCSD: Time to immunize children is now

Posted: Updated:

School is back in session in less than three weeks, and the Clark County School District wants to remind parents that they must provide proof of immunizations before their children can attend.

Children cannot be enrolled in public schools in Nevada unless they have been immunized and have received boosters. The exceptions are religious belief and medical conditions.

Immunizations required for every child include seven vaccines: DTP/DT/Tap and Tdap, polio, MMR, hepatitis A and B, and varicella.

"Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend children receive proper immunizations to protect against exposure to certain diseases. Nevada has seen a rise in pertussis cases over recent years. As the school year approaches, parents should be reminded to not wait until the last minute for immunizations as the wait time increases dramatically," said Lynn Row, director of CCSD Health Services.

For information on immunizations, contact the Southern Nevada Health District at 702-759-0852 or visit
