LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

UFC 178 is isn't until Sept. 27, but mixed martial arts fans got quite a preview of Jones vs. Cormier on Monday at MGM Grand hotel and casino.

A Twitter war between reigning UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones and his opponent, Daniel Cormier, erupted into a brawl during a press tour stop for the fight.

The adversaries locked eyes in the lobby of the hotel, punches were thrown, the stage collapsed, chairs were knocked over, and the fighters had to be restrained.

The two have been squabbling on Twitter since the fight was announced, Cormier warning Jones about the beating he's going to take and Jones repeatedly blowing him off, predicting an easy victory.

Following the fracas, Cormier tweeted, "I won't let another man get in my face and put his forehead against mine. I will react every time. @JonnyBones next time I will slap you."

Jones, clearly not bothered, tweeted, "Lol those baby punches from the bottom, I really hope you have more prepared than that for when I take you down again."

There was no immediate word about disciplinary action following the ruckus.
