LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A teen was swept away while playing in a water-filled wash Monday morning, according to officials.

A spokesman for the Clark County Fire Department said that about 11:30 a.m. rescue crews were called to a wash near the intersection of Buffalo Drive and Hacienda Avenue.

Officials said five children were playing around the wash, when three of them went into the water. They said one of the children, in his early teens, was swept quite a distance downstream. They said he was eventually able to climb out of the wash.

None of the other children were hurt.

Officials reminded people that it is never safe to play in washes or flood waters.
