LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Las Vegas Metro police and SWAT members became involved in a standoff with a man in the northeast Valley on Friday afternoon following an altercation between two people.

Metro's Officer Laura Meltzer said police were called to a mobile home on Betty Lane, near North Nellis Boulevard and East Carey Avenue, about 4:30 p.m.

Two people were in some sort of struggle, and the victim, a woman, managed to escape from the mobile home with injuries. She was taken to University Medical Center where she was treated for stab wounds.

However, the man involved refused to exit the home. When a search of the home was conducted Friday evening, the man's body was discovered. Police said it appeared the man died from a self-inflicted wound.

Police said they believed the man was armed with a knife and a handgun and that he had a criminal history.
