American Legion state tournament underway in Albany

Posted: Updated:
ALBANY, GA (WALB) - American Legion baseball has been a south Georgia tradition for years. No wonder the city of Albany is picked to host the state tournament.

Some of the best teams in the Peach State are hitting the Good Life City this weekend.

Albany's Post 30 and Leesburg's Post 182 are each in the field, as well as teams from the rest of the state.

"We look forward to having the best in the state. That's what we figure this is," says Post 30 baseball manager Don Norman. "It's a great tournament and the people in Albany should come out and watch. This is quality baseball."

Post 30 won their opener, 11-1, over Post 202 from Douglasville. Post 182 dropped a seven inning decision to Conyers' Post 77, 11-1.

The tournament continues throughout the weekend at Paul Eames Stadium.
