LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Las Vegas Metro police said a gunman shot through a windshield Thursday, killing a woman at a convenience store on the city's west side.

Metro released additional details Friday into the shooting that happened at a 7-Eleven store on West Sahara Avenue near Teddy Drive. Officers were called to the store on reports of shooting about 5:49 p.m.

According to police, a man entered the woman's vehicle parked at the 7-Eleven. While the two were sitting in the car, a man driving up to the woman's vehicle fired a shot through a windshield.

The gunman and the man inside the victim's vehicle both fled.

The woman was rushed to University Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Police described the suspect as a white or light-skinned black man. Police also said they believe the shooter's vehicle was a black, four-door Nissan sedan without tinting in the windows.

Police urged people information on the case to contact Metro's Homicide Section at 702-828-3521 or at homicide@lvmpd.com. People can also send tips to Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or at www.crimestoppersofnv.com.

As of this incident, Metro has investigated 70 homicides this year.
