LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

People were given the OK to return to buildings on the University of Nevada, Las Vegas campus after a nearby gas leak.

Southwest Gas spokesperson Cynthia Messina said the leak happened about 10:50 a.m. Tuesday in the area of Harmon Avenue and Swenson Street.

According to Messina, a contractor working in the area hit a gas line causing the leak on the campus west end.

Southwest Gas crews were called to the area to repair the line.

UNLV spokesperson Tony Allen said people were allowed to go back inside buildings at noon. It was not immediately known if the line was repaired by that time.
