Police: $150k of heroin seized from Slidell couple's home

LAPLACE, LA (WVUE) -

Over $150,000 worth of heroin was seized from a Slidell couple's home. Officers obtained a warrant for the home after a traffic stop uncovered more than 100 pounds of marijuana in their vehicle along with three children, police say.

Officers say the bust was the result of a nearly three month investigation into 33-year-old Adam Landry, who was suspected of trafficking narcotics.

In April 2014, a St. Tammany Parish narcotics detective was assigned to the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force to initiate an investigation into Landry

On Saturday morning, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on Landry in St John Parish. It happened around 4:45 a.m. on I-10 eastbound near exit 209 in LaPlace.

The traffic stop found Landry and his girlfriend, 31-year-old Miranda Davis, in the vehicle along with three children, police say. The St. John Parish Sheriff's Office says the deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle for improper lane use. A computer check on the driver revealed a suspended ed license.

Narcotics detectives say they obtained a search warrant for the vehicle and seized over 100 pounds of marijuana and nearly $18,000 in cash.

Officers then obtained a search warrant for the couple's home, located in the 1000 block of McBeth Drive in Slidell.

Following a search of the home, police say they found:

  • 3.9 pounds of heroin; street value of $150k to $180k
  • ½ pounds of marijuana; street value of $2,500
  • A loaded .40 caliber pistol
  • A loaded 9 mm pistol
  • A loaded Ruger .223 assault rifle
  • $1,370 in U.S. currency
  • A prescription bottle of dilaudid liquid

Davis was arrested and booked on numerous drug charges.

STPSO Detectives are seeking arrest warrants for Landry, who is still incarcerated in the St. John Parish Jail. He remains in custody in lieu of a $312,250 bond.
