NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV (FOX5) -

A child was critically injured Friday night when she was struck by a pickup truck in the area of West Lone Mountain Road and North Commerce Street in North Las Vegas.

Officer Aaron Patty of the North Las Vegas Police Department said that at about 8:50 p.m. an 8-year-old girl and her 43-year-old uncle were crossing Commerce in a marked crosswalk when the driver of the truck failed to yield to them, hitting the girl.

The child was taken to University Medical Center Trauma. Her uncle was not injured.

Police said the driver of the truck did stay on scene and was cooperative with investigators.

Police do not yet know if drugs, alcohol or speed factored into the crash.
