UA Medical Center offering free eye examinations

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The University of Arizona Medical Center is offering free eye examinations on Saturday, July 19.

The exam will check for cataracts, glaucoma, diabetes, macular degeneration and dry eye. The screenings are recommended for individuals over age 18 with a family history of eye disease, a diagnosis of diabetes and/or high blood pressure, and for those taking certain medications.

The doctors will go over screening results with each patient and give them a copy of their exam. They will also provide referrals for appropriate care if required based on the screening results, according to a UA press release.

Examinations will run from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. You must make an appointment for the examination. To schedule a screening or for more information about upcoming screenings, call (520) 694-1471.
