LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A boy who police said was shot in the head by his mother on Memorial Day was still in critical condition Tuesday.

Las Vegas Metro police said 31-year-old Shavon Carrillo admitted to shooting her 11-year-old son with a rifle while he was asleep. She also admitted to planning to kill her two other children and herself, police said.

According to an arrest report, Carrillo's brother was awakened by the shot, confronted her about the gun and then wrestled it away from her.

The boy was taken to University Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition. According to a hospital representative, the boy was still in critical condition Tuesday.

Carrillo told investigators that she was in the midst of a break-up with her husband and was under an "extreme amount of stress" when she shot her son.

Carrillo was charged with attempted murder with a deadly weapon, two counts of child endangerment with mental harm and child abuse with a weapon. She was being held in the Clark County Detention Center on $1 million bail.
