LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Las Vegas 51s slugger Wilmer Flores garnered a player of the week honor on the strength of his six home runs over a five-game span.

The Pacific Coast League announced the honor Monday for Flores, who swung for 13 hits and scored 12 runs during games from June 30 to July 6.

The AAA league said the 22-year-old hit safely in all eight games he played in the span, going 7-for-14 versus Albuquerque in a four-game series.

In addition, the Venezuela native swung two home runs on July 4, marking his second multi-homer game of the season. As of Monday, the slugger has batted .327 with 11 home runs.

The PCL noted Flores' five-game feat marked the first time in 20 years a Las Vegas player swung for six home runs in the similar span. Melvin Nieves last accomplished this feat in 1994.
