While Jadeveon Clowney continues along in his recovery from sports hernia surgery, he gave a short, candid interview about his upcoming rookie season with the Houston Texans.
For Clowney, his one goal for the season is pretty simple: better himself as a player.
"Help my team," said Clowney. "Just be the best Jadeveon Clowney I know I can be on the field."
The No. 1 overall selection in the most recent NFL Draft, the former South Carolina defensive line has plenty to prove to NFL fans.
Clowney says he's focused on "earning respect on the field" during minicamps and organized team activities in the past few weeks.
"Just show the guys, the older vets I'm here to play with those guys and help them win," said Clowney.
The Texans' new outside linebacker will finally get his chance to prove himself on the team's season opener against the Redskins on Sept. 7.
