LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Investigators identified the man Friday who was killed during a shooting in northwest Las Vegas on Wednesday night.

The shooting happened about 9:40 p.m. at the Northpointe Apartments in the 3300 block of North Michael Way, near the intersection of Rancho Drive and Cheyenne Avenue.

Las Vegas Metro police said officers arrived to find a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The Clark County Coroner's Office identified the man as 27-year-old Robert Matthews.

Police said it appears Matthews and two other people were confronted at the entrance of the apartment complex by two men. They said the group got into an argument and several shots were fired. They said the two people who were with Matthews and the two men who confronted the group fled the scene.

Investigators said they have not yet identified suspects in the case.

Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
