LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
Las Vegas Metro police are investigating two separate deadly shootings that occurred Wednesday night.
The first shooting happened about 8:50 p.m. behind a Food 4 Less grocery store located on East Sahara Avenue at Nellis Boulevard.
Investigators said a man was walking in an alley behind the store and encountered two other men. The three began arguing, and a single shot was fired. The two men then jumped into a dark-colored sedan and fled the scene. The first man died at the scene.
The description of the two men who fled was extremely limited, according to police. One of them was last seen wearing a black shirt and jeans. The other was last seen wearing a gray shirt and shorts.
The victim's identity was not immediately released.
Homicide detectives are investigating the shooting.
About 9:40 p.m., officers were called to Northpointe Apartments - located on North Michael Way, near the intersection of North Rancho Drive and West Cheyenne Avenue - in response to reports of a shooting.
Police said the victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Police said this shooting may be gang-related.
The office of the Clark County Coroner on Thursday identified the victim as 27-year-old Robert Matthews.
Anyone with information about either of the shootings was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
