LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, the centerpiece of the revitalized downtown Las Vegas, on Tuesday night welcomed its one millionth guest. In fact, it surpassed the million mark.

The milestone was reached during a sold-out performance of the Broadway hit The Book of Mormon.

The Smith Center recently celebrated its second anniversary.

"We dreamed big, but it's the community's overwhelming support that inspires us to keep reaching," said Smith Center President and CEO Myron Martin. "Within just two short years of opening, we have already hosted many of the world's greatest performers."

In addition to Broadway shows, The Smith Center has hosted acts including Willie Nelson, Carole King, Yo-Yo Ma and Arturo Sandoval, among many more.

In recognition of the occasion, The Smith Center has launched a new microsite, www.thesmithcenter.com/moments, where fans are encouraged to share special moments experienced at the arts center via stories, photos or video.
