Promotes Fly Healthy Fly Fit Wellness Program
Provides Yoga Classes, Yoga Mats and Prizes
WASHINGTON, June 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Qatar Airways was pleased to sponsor Washingtonian Fit Fest 2014, an annual interactive health and fitness event for women, hosted at American University, on June 21st. The one-day event provided over 300 women with the chance to attend yoga classes, wellness clinics, panel discussion and healthy cooking demonstrations, as well as consult with doctors and health experts.
In addition to sponsoring yoga classes, Qatar Airways provided attendees with branded yoga mats, a chance to win a Fitbit, wearable health and wellness technology, and the Qatar Airways healthy lounge, where attendees could learn more about the airline's Fly Healthy, Fly Fit wellness program.
"Our Fit Fest attendees appreciate and value companies that take health seriously," remarked Washingtonian Media President and Publisher, Cathy Merrill Williams. "We were honored to partner with Qatar Airways because their Fly Healthy, Fly Fit resonates deeply with our attendees - many of whom spend a lot of time in the air and care profoundly about their health."
Qatar Airlines' Fly Healthy, Fly Fit program was developed in conjunction with health and fitness expert Deepak Chopra, in order to reduce stress and improve physical wellness during long-haul commercial flights. The program, developed by the Chopra Center for Wellbeing, employs a custom form of Ayurvedic techniques, including yoga and meditation, in order to help passengers feel more balanced, healthy and relaxed.
"Qatar Airways is dedicated to the wellbeing of our passengers, both in the air and on the ground," said Qatar Airways USA Country Manager, Lisa Markovic. "We are immensely proud of our inflight program we've developed, but we take an even greater pleasure in working with Washingtonian Magazine to help further the cause of health and wellbeing in the Washington DC community."
"The Qatar Airways yoga mats were a huge hit," added Williams. "People not only loved them so much as to tweet and post about them, but walked around with them slung on their shoulders with immense pride."
Qatar Airways flies to 143 destinations around the world through their central hub, the newly opened Hamad International Airport in Doha. The majority of the flights are considered "long-haul" and come with a complete explanation of the Fly Healthy, Fly Fit program, as part of Qatar Airways signature 5-star service.
