Man killed in triple shooting near Sahara Avenue identified

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Police said a man was killed and two women were critically injured during an east Las Vegas shooting Friday morning.

The shooting happened about 11 a.m. at a home in the 2600 block of Heritage Court, near the intersection of Sahara Avenue and Mojave Road.

Investigators at the scene told FOX5 that two men knocked on the door of the home. They said that when someone inside answered the door, they asked if a person was home. They said that when the two men were told the person they were looking for was not there, the pair opened fire, then fled.

Police said a man inside the home was pronounced dead at the scene. They said two women suffered life-threatening injuries and were taken to local hospitals for treatment. They said a fourth person who lived next door may have been hit by shrapnel from one of the shots.

The Clark County Coroner's office identified the deceased man as, 54-year-old Michael McCarthy. McCarthy died from a gunshot wound to the head and his death was rule a homicide.

The gunmen are being sought, police said. However, they were not able to provide a description of the men.
