Medical examiners released Friday the name of a motorcyclist who died in a crash on Eastern Avenue.
The Clark County Coroner's Office identified the person as Miguel Romero, 22, of Las Vegas.
According to Las Vegas Metro police, the crash also involving a Chevrolet Cruze happened about 6:39 p.m. at the intersection of Eastern Avenue and Oquendo Road, near Russell Road.
Citing evidence and witnesses, police said Romero's bike was traveling southbound on Eastern at a high rate of speed.
The other vehicle in the crash was turning left onto northbound Eastern from a shopping center at the same time.
Police said the bike was over-braking when it overturned on its side and struck the rear right tire of the Cruze. Romero was ejected from his bike.
Romero was rushed to Sunrise Trauma with critical injuries but later died.
Police closed the southbound lanes of Eastern between Russell and Patrick Lane to investigate.
As of this incident, Metro has investigated 40 traffic-related fatalities in its jurisdiction this year.
There were no other injuries reported.
