19-year old killed after losing control of his pick-up truck

BATH, OH (WOIO) -

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred Wednesday at 5:56 p.m.
 
The crash occurred on State Route 18 (Medina Road) just West of Springside Drive, in Bath Township, Summit County.

Andrew J. Hayes, age 19, of Medina Ohio, was operating a 1998 Dodge Ram pickup westbound on State Route 18, when he lost control of the vehicle and traveled off the right side of the road, striking a curb and a utility pole. Hayes sustained serious injuries during the crash and was transported to Akron General Hospital where he died.

Sean M. Kolcun, age 19, of Hinckley Ohio, was a passenger in the vehicle. Kolcun sustained serious injuries during the crash and was transported to Akron General Hospital by the Bath Township Fire Department for evaluation.

Neither occupant of the vehicle was wearing a safety belt.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor. The crash remains under investigation.
