The Clark County Coroner's office has identified the pedestrian killed in a hit-and-run crash early Friday.
A man died after being hit by a van in northeast Las Vegas, and police said they are still searching for the driver.
The crash happened just before 1:30 a.m. near Meikle Lane west of Ringe Road, near the intersection of Nellis and Lake Mead boulevards.
Citing evidence and witness statements, Las Vegas Metro police said a cargo-type, white van was traveling eastbound on Meikle when the pedestrian was hit.
Police said the van kept traveling, fleeing southbound on Ringe.
The victim was taken to University Medical Center and pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Coroner's office identified the pedestrian as 50-year-old Byron Pope from Las Vegas. Pope died from multiple blunt force trauma, and his death was ruled an accident.
Police noted the vehicle in the case would have sustained right front damage.
An investigation was ongoing in the case.
Police urged anyone with information about the crash to contact Metro's Accident Investigation Section at 702-828-4341 or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
