Police in Boulder City said an 84-year-old rider of a scooter died in an accident that may or may not have involved another vehicle that drove away from the scene.
According to the Boulder City Police Department, emergency crews were called to Adams Boulevard between Avenue K and Avenue G just after 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Citing witnesses, police said a red vehicle was passing a blue scooter when the rider swerved toward the car and went down.
Witnesses told police the red vehicle drove on without stopping at the scene.
The injured rider, who the Clark County Coroner's Office identified as James Bruce Kitchell, was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said evidence and witness statements indicated the other vehicle may not have been involved in the crash. Police, though, said they were interested in talking to the driver.
An investigation was ongoing, but speed was not believed to be a factor in the crash.
