LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Police said a toddler nearly drowned in a family pool Saturday afternoon near downtown Las Vegas.

Lt. Ken Romane said reports of a child drowning in a pool came in at 1:50 p.m. Police and Las Vegas Fire Department responded to 909 N. 22nd St. near East Washington Avenue and North Eastern Avenue to find an unconscious 2-year-old not breathing.

CPR was performed, and the child was transported to University Medical Center Trauma in critical condition, according to Romane.

Police told Fox5 a family member was watching the child, lost track of time and found the child in the pool.

Nearby neighbors to the family told Fox5 the 2-year-old is a little boy.

This incident remains under investigation.
