LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Las Vegas Metro police are investigating two separate crashes that each sent a pedestrian to the hospital late Thursday and early Friday.

According to police, a 53-year-old man was rushed to University Medical Center after being struck by a pickup truck just after 10 p.m. Thursday on Lamb Boulevard near Owens Avenue.

Police said the pedestrian, Roland Hamilton, was walking outside of a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a Chevrolet S-10 pickup. Police said the driver, Jose Romero Avila, 37, of Las Vegas, drove off from the scene.

Police were able to stop Avila after a witness informed police of the crash.

Avila was booked into Clark County Detention Center on counts of driving under the influence and felony hit-and-run, according to police.

Police also investigated another crash that injured a 59-year-old man on Boulder Highway and Mayorga Street before 12:30 a.m. Friday.

According to Metro, George Tomich was crossing Boulder outside of a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a 1998 Lincoln Navigator.

Tomich was transported to UMC with serious injuries, police said.

Police did not indicate any charges against the 33-year-old driver.
