Shadow Ridge classes continue while threat's investigated

Posted: Updated:

Officials at a high school in Surprise said classes would proceed as scheduled Friday after an unspecified threat was made against the school.

CBS 5 News obtained a copy of a letter sent to parents of students at Shadow Ridge High School in which officials said police were contacted about the threat.

Surprise Police Sgt. Bert Anzini said the threatening message was found in one of the school's bathrooms and that officers were investigating several leads, though no arrests have been made.

Anzini said a school resource officer was on campus in the Dysart Unified School District and other officers who patrol the area were directed to stop at the school periodically.

The letter from Shadow Ridge Principal Michael Hawkins said that while the school takes all threats seriously, there was no evidence to substantiate the threat.

No other information was immediately available.
