MESA, AZ (CBS5) -

The city of Mesa has powered up its largest solar facility to date.

It's a 346-kilowatt system at the Red Mountain Library at 635 N. Power Rd.

Solar panels have been installed onto new canopy parking structures that provide shaded parking for patrons.

The facility is expected to generate more than 560,599 kilowatt-hours of energy annually for the library.

It's expected the system will save $425,000 over the 20-year agreement between SolarCity and the city.
