LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
After years of delays, the large-scale retail center once known as Shops At Summerlin is set to open for business this fall.
Officials announced Thursday that the 1.5 million-square-foot shopping center will open Oct. 9, and renamed "Downtown Summerlin."
The shops were originally scheduled to open in 2009, but construction was halted in late 2007 when the Great Recession hit. The property was then bought by the Howard Hughes Corporation, and construction resumed last year.
Located near the 215 Beltway, just south of the Red Rock Casino, the mixed-use development includes retail and office space, and urban-style housing. Anchor stores for the development includes Macy's, Dillard's and Nordstram Rack.
