LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A woman jumped to her death from a highway overpass near Summerlin on Tuesday morning, tying up traffic for several hours.

Trooper Jeremie Elliott, of the Nevada Highway Patrol, said the woman jumped from the U.S. Highway 95 bridge over Summerlin Parkway about 5 a.m. He said the woman landed on the transition ramp from the eastbound parkway to southbound 95.

Elliott said at least one car hit the woman when she landed. He said two other vehicles also crashed beneath the Rainbow Boulevard overpass.

No other injuries were reported.

Officials closed off the transition ramp, forcing cars into the HOV lane to get onto the highway. He said the ramp would be closed until at least 10 a.m.

The woman's identity was not immediately released by the Clark County Coroner's Office.
