A major artery between Las Vegas and Los Angeles reopened Tuesday night in the California town of Hesperia after a bridge fire caused traffic to be blocked.
On Monday, a fire destroyed an under-construction bridge near the Cajon Pass and closed all lanes to traffic.
The bridge near Hesperia, CA, is on the main route between Southern California and Las Vegas.
The freeway had been closed since about 1:30 p.m. Monday.
San Bernardino County Fire Capt. Josh Wilkins says a blowtorch being used by a construction worker ignited the wooden support structure of an overpass that was under construction.
The Los Angeles Times reported that the San Bernardino Council of Governments tweeted after 11:50 p.m. Tuesday that both directions were open.
The northbound lanes opened about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
