Police said a man who died Tuesday night was shot through a car window just northwest of downtown Las Vegas.
According to Lt. David Gordon of Las Vegas Metro police, officers were called to Dune Drive, near Vegas Drive and Martin Luther King Boulevard, about 10:16 p.m.
The person who called 911 reported a man had been shot through a window.
When police arrived, they located a gunshot victim in the passenger seat of a vehicle. Gordon said he had been shot in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Metro, investigators learned the victim was riding in a vehicle with two other men when they stopped to check a tire. Police learned the driver, while checking on the tire outside of the vehicle, heard loud bangs and realized someone was shot. The driver then drove on and stopped a short time later to call police.
The Clark County Coroner's Office was assigned to identify the victim and his cause of death.
Police did not immediately identify any suspects.
The slaying marked the 39th homicide investigated by Metro this year.
Police urged anyone with information on the case to contact Metro's Homicide Section or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
