NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV (FOX5) -

Two people on a motorcycle rear-ended a vehicle that fled from the scene but was later stopped by officers, North Las Vegas police said Monday.

The police department reported the crash in the area of Lake Mead Boulevard and Pecos Road just after 4 a.m.

According to police, man and a woman on a motorcycle that was heading eastbound on Lake Mead struck a vehicle near the intersection and were ejected from the motorcycle.

The driver who hit was struck left the scene but was later detained, police said.

Both riders on the bike were rushed to a local medical center. Police said the woman sustained critical injuries while the man on the bike had non-life-threatening injuries.

Police believe alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
